This lively if uneven Argentinian portmanteau comedy from Damián Szifrón tells half a dozen stories about frustrating Latin-American life, which should comfortably cross boundaries. One of the most apt has a motorist given an unjust parking ticket and totally unable to persuade the authorities that his car should not have been towed away. One of the funniest has two motorists on a lonely motorway literally fighting to the death after a bad-tempered incident. Some wondered what the film was doing in competition at Cannes. But though essentially a little lightweight, there seems no reason why a comedy should not join the dramas and melodramas of the main strand at the world’s most significant competition.
